Idea Paint

IdeaPaint - How It All Started

IdeaPaint, founded by John Goscha at Babson College in 2002, is a patent-pending coating that transforms any smooth surface into a high-performance dry-erase writing surface. After working with two labs that concluded it was impossible, John and a leading chemistry lab successfully created the highest performing, most flexible and cost-effective dry-erase surface available. Classmates Jeff Avallon and Morgen Newman joined John as co-founders in late 2006 and early 2007. John and his team raised Series A financing from Breakaway Ventures, an investment firm focused on a new generation of innovative and high-growth retail and consumer-oriented businesses, in August 2008. IdeaPaint launched nationally into the commercial marketplace in June 2008 and released its consumer oriented water-based product along with 10 color options in the summer of 2009.

With over 20,000 successful installations since the initial launch, IdeaPaint has become the ideal tool to foster creativity and collaboration in offices, schools and homes around the world.
